Hingoli lies at the northern part of
Marathwada in the state of Maharashtra. The district is surrounded by
Akola and Yeotmal in the North, Parbhani in the West and Nanded in the
South-east. Hingoli came into existence as a separate district of
Maharashtra from the division of Parbhani district on 1st may 1999.
Hingoli was actually Nizam's military base as it was border place with
Vidhrabha. During that time military troops, hospitals, veterinary
hospital were all operational from Hingoli. Residents of Hingoli had
experienced two big wars between Tipu Sultan and Maratha in 1803 and in
1857 between Nagpurkar and Bhosale. The district played an important
role in the administration of Hyderabad state owing to its military
base. |
