Chromotherapy - Getting Healed The Colourful Way.

Chromotherapy or Color Therapy is the science that uses the colors to modify or to keep the vibrations of the body in a frequency that results in health, welfare and harmony.

Both humans and nature need the light of the sun to live. In this process, man and nature receive the solar light which is broken up into seven main rays, and then distributed to our physical and energetic bodies. If there is an in-balance of these colors in our energetic field, this reflects on our physical body as a mental or physical illness.

The luminous energy of colors is of the same nature as the electromagnetic energy of radio and television waves. Just as the transmitters and receptors of radio waves, humans are also transmitting and receiving these energies in the same way.
Therefore, we can emit the energy of a certain color by simply thinking about it. Each color possesses frequencies of a specific vibration, and each vibration has characteristics related to different physical symptoms.

History of Color and Light Healing:

Color and light have been used for healing since the beginning of recorded time. Ancient Egyptians built solarium-type rooms with colored panes of glass. The sun would shine through the glass and flood the patient with color. Some people use colored silk cloths which are placed on the body and then flooded with sunlight. Early color and light healers in the modern world used colored gels and sheets of glass to apply light to the body. Others used color infused water and color meditations to send healing rays to the person.

Why it Works:

The earth, the oceans, in fact every living thing, is dependent upon light for its very existence. A recent scientific study disclosed that each cell in the body emits light. We live in a sea of energy and our bodies are composed of energy. Color works through and in us, in every nerve, cell, gland and muscle. It shines in our auras and radiates upon us from the sun. Color is an active power, exerting a tremendous influence on our consciousness, soul and spirit.

Within our body, our organs, muscles, cells and nerves all have a level of vibration. When our body becomes out of balance, disease occurs. Each color has its own frequency and vibration. Through extensive research, we know that color and light will help bring our physical and emotional systems into balance.

Asian medicine teaches us that our bodies have meridians carrying energy throughout our system, connecting with each major organ. When blockages in these meridians happen, disease follows. The Chinese use acupuncture needles to remove blockages in the meridians. Color can be used in the same way and is frequently more powerful, quicker and has no discomfort from needles.

Action and effect of colours on the body and their healing qualities:

Red:

Symbolic of heat, fire and anger. It is a stimulating and energising colour. It stimulates arterial blood and brings warmth to cool extremities. Used as a general tonic, it is very valuable in the treatment of diseases like low blood pressure, rheumatism, paralysis, anaemia and advanced cases of tuberculosis.

Orange:

Symbolic of prosperity and pride, orange is useful for stimulating blood supply and energising the nerves. It is beneficial in the treatment of kidney and gallstones, hernia and appendicitis. It is also used to stimulate the milk producing action of breasts after childbirth.

Violet:

Violet is beneficial in the treatment of nervous and emotional disturbances, arthritis, acute cases of consumption and insomnia.

Yellow:

Associated with joy and happiness, yellow is laxative and diuretic. It is a stimulant to the brain, the liver and the spleen. It is also effective in the treatment of diabetes, indigestion, kidney and liver disorders, constipation, eye and throat infections, syphilis and impotence.

Purple:

Purple or indigo combines the blood-warming red and the cooling antiseptic blue. It is an excellent stimulant without being an irritant. It is beneficial in the treatment of advanced stages of constipation, hydrocle, leucorrhoea, many disorders of the stomach and womb, cataract, migraine and skin disorders. It exerts a soothing effect on the eyes, ears and the nervous system.

Green:

Made up of blue and yellow, green is regarded as a colour of harmony. It is a mild sedative. It is useful in the treatment of nervous conditions, hay fever, ulcers, influenza, malaria, colds, sexual disorders and cancer. It preserves and strengthens eyesight. Being highly medicinal and depressive, it is of great help in the treatment of inflammatory conditions.

Blue:

Cool, soothing and sedative, blue alleviates pain, reducing bleeding and heals burns. It is beneficial in the treatment of dysentery, colic, asthma, respiratory disorders, high blood pressure and skin aberrations. In a study at the New England State Hospital in the United States, 25 members of staff with normal blood pressure were bathed in blue light for half an hour. It resulted in universal fall in blood pressure. The blood pressure rose when red light was applied.
