Aura-Soma is a form of colour therapy.The remedies are a collection of small bottles, each containing a layer of coloured essential oil on top of a layer of coloured spring water containing herbal extracts. There are over 90 bottles in all and most of them contain two colours each. You are asked to choose the four colours that most appeal to you. The four that you choose are the most relevant to your physical and emotional condition and by applying the combination of colours to your skin daily, allows the body to absorb the colours and rebalance the body. There is no standard duration of treatment and the therapy is used as often as it is felt necessary.

History :
Aura Soma was developed by British pharmacist and herbalist, Vicki Wall in the early 1980's. The practice involves 100 bottles of mixed herbs, crystal essences, and essential oils. These bottles contain two colors split in half with an oil and water diversion, are used for emotional and physical healing, and can be used in conjunction with many other techniques.
Introduction :
The central thesis of the Aura-Soma system is that colour represents a universal symbol system (called "The Language of Colour"). This attaches great spiritual significance and psychological connotations to colour combinations chosen by an individual. These colour combinations are represented by two-tone bottles (For example, red over blue, green over yellow).
The bottles are made from two colours of organic oil and water, mostly of different colours, each of which, it is claimed, represents a series of symbolic, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical concepts. They are numbered, with 105 bottles to date. After a selection of favourites is made, a practitioner assists in interpreting their meanings. While sounding superficially like the processes of other systems like Tarot, Aura-Soma practitioners do not regard their discipline as akin to fortune-telling or divination.
Aura-Soma provides you with a way of assessing yourself. Practitioners of the system assert that it is both scientific and spiritual in nature, and functions as a meta-system which can relate to other systems such as the Tarot, the I Ching, the Kabbalah etc. Many of the concepts from Jungian psychology and other studies of mythology have also been related to the system. While not claiming healing in the sense of acupuncture or other remedial systems, practitioners regard it as able to address the whole question of what lies behind disease (referred to as dis-ease).
